PILATES AND I, PILATES I

11/02/2024

Pilates became a part of my life in 2019, and it's here to stay. It took my hand and led me towards a new, balanced, and peaceful direction in my life. I've always been active; I love the feeling of my body in motion, and I feel alive when there's strong energy flowing within me. As a little girl, I admired ballet dancers and wanted to be one myself; I even started ballet classes. However, after only a few sessions, I told my father, "I don't want to play with any falling balloons; I want pointe shoes."

Well, that wasn't possible, and my enthusiasm quickly shifted to go-kart cars. Yet, I still admired the gracefulness and beautiful movements of ballet dancers. In my mind, I always saw myself as a clumsy big girl and never believed I could be like a ballerina.

My athletic life took me into basketball for years, strength training, martial arts, running, skiing, and yoga. However, in 2019, I began to exhaust myself with my own workload, convincing myself that I am too busy and stressed all the time, along with excessive training in martial arts. I decided to give myself some time and simply started walking; I walked long distances every day until walking led my thoughts to new paths. Then I tried pilates for the first time through an app, and I was hooked.

My body awakened, all the small supporting muscles activated, and day by day, I felt like I was carrying my body like a graceful ballet dancer. I've never been this strong, both mentally and physically.

Pilates is an art of body and mind for me; it's presence, time for myself, and a path back to my inner self-awareness.

In a few weeks, my pilates journey will deepen as I train to become a pilates instructor. The decision was clear, but my old beliefs made my stomach churn.

"What if I can't instruct?" "What if I stutter while teaching?" "What if I can't do it right?"

It's wonderful to see how I can now observe my thoughts and realize that the new thing that scares me is what propels me forward. When you embrace the new, you gain new experiences, develop, and life improves. This thought always drives the old out of my body, instantly.

This year brings a lot of new things, and I'm ready to embrace them. I want to share the wonderful feeling of pilates with you, share my own insights about life and chakra meditations. As we change, the world around us changes. So, it all starts with you.

Take care of yourself, beautiful soul!
